Spearheaded by the Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC), a branch of the RTA, this initiative aims to cater to around 25,000 students enrolled in various schools throughout Dubai.
With a strong commitment to adhering to both local and international safety standards, the DTC’s school transport fleet is designed to provide students with a secure journey to and from their schools. Ammar Rashid Al Braiki, the Director of Fleet Operation at DTC, highlighted the strategic focus on leveraging the organization’s extensive expertise and resources in tandem with advanced technologies. The objective is two-fold: instilling confidence in parents and the community while creating a safe and protected transportation environment for students during their academic journey.
These smart buses boast an array of intelligent features, including surveillance cameras that keep a watchful eye on the surroundings. Additionally, a specialized system ensures that no student is inadvertently left behind at the end of a trip. The buses are even equipped with technology that detects student movement while en route, enhancing safety protocols. For any unforeseen situations, an emergency alert system provides a direct link to the emergency management center.
Furthermore, the buses are kitted out with advanced GPS technology, allowing for precise tracking of routes. A Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system streamlines the process of getting on and off the bus, making it more efficient. Safety takes precedence with the incorporation of an automatic fire suppression system for engines, further safeguarding the well-being of all passengers.
A key aspect of this initiative is the emphasis on responsible driving skills. The DTC actively engages school bus drivers and attendants in specialized high-level training courses, ensuring that they are well-equipped to handle their vital roles.
