Dubai Kid-Friendly

Dubai is a city of many faces. It can be a luxury dazzle, an innovation hub, a shopping paradise, an architectural marvel, a beach vacation, etc. The list can go on and on.

But there is one more face we’d like to show you. The kid-friendly one.

Let’s find out why Dubai can be one of the most kid-friendly cities in the world whether you are on a short-stay visit or planning to relocate here with your family.

1. Safety
The Gallup Global Law and Order 2021 report ranked the UAE as the number one country for walking at night safely and second in the world for the safest countries.

2. Friendly Attitude
You know, in some countries people just tolerate kids. In Dubai people just love them. Not because it’s part of their job in hotels or malls. Total strangers in the streets will smile and give high fives to your little ones.

3. Sun
Who can object to getting 8-10 hours of the sun almost every day of the year? Not us. And definitely not the kids. If the weather is getting really hot, there are beaches, pools, shady parks, and the modern miracle of air-conditioning.

4. Entertainment
There is literally every step of entertainment covered. Indoor and outdoor.

  • world’s largest waterparks
  • kid-friendly theme parks (LEGOLAND included)
  • an endless number of soft play centers
  • best Seaworld aquariums, museums, and interactive exhibitions
  • world’s largest natural flower garden and lush green parks with modern playgrounds
  • safe and clean beaches, water sports, sailing lessons, pools
  • best and biggest shopping malls in the world with out-of-your-mind perks like indoor snow parks or virtual reality experiences
  • after-school activities: from robotics to dance, theatre, sports, and craft
  • kids’ summer and winter camps during their annual vacations.

5. World Class Schools
There are 200+ private schools in Dubai with state-of-the-art campuses. The most popular curriculums are British, IB (International Baccalaureate), American, and Indian. But you can likely find a school with a curriculum in your home country as well. The latest survey among parents states that education matters and they are not worried about their child’s future while attending a private school in Dubai.

6. Family-Friendly Communities

Dubai is not all about luxury hotels and skyscrapers, this city has several well-planned villa communities, ideal for families wanting space and privacy. There are also some quiet urban family areas as well if you prefer to be closer to the city center. For example, JVC.
7. A ‘Melting Pot’ of Nationalities
Dubai is often called a ‘melting pot’ of nationalities. Just imagine what this multicultural experience can do to your child’s development and general worldview. Many parents say that living in Dubai develops an openness to other cultures that would not exist in their home country. In an increasingly globalized world, this is seen as a distinct advantage.

Healthcare in Dubai

If you’re interested in relocating to Dubai, one of the main issues in question is the healthcare system. Don’t you worry? Healthcare in the UAE is known to be among some of the best in the world.

In fact, healthcare is so outstanding that medical tourism is thriving in the country. For example, each year 500,000 people will travel to Dubai for healthcare. The main areas for medical tourism are orthopedics, sports medicine, dermatology, dentistry, and fertility treatment.

Public or Private?
The UAE offers public and private healthcare options. Needless to say, the country hosts state-of-the-art healthcare facilities, some of the best in the region. Though almost 80% of the UAE’s health care system is private.

The UAE’s public health care system is available only to Emirati nationals. Expats can access public health services if they purchase a health card. Or in a fact of emergency.

However, most expats chose private healthcare, because public facilities are limited and private health insurance will give you access to a broader and quicker range of services. Also, it’s a 100% guarantee that medical personnel will speak English.

Anyway, employers in Dubai are required by law to provide health insurance for their employees. So, this issue will be covered if you’re working on a contract.

How to Get a Health Card?
You must register with the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) if you wish to obtain a health card (and save up to 50% on your medical bills).
Docs needed:

  • A personal photo on a white background
  • Copy of valid passport
  • EIDA Application/EIDA copy
  • Family book copy for UAE resident
  • Valid residence visa or entry residence visa
  • Employees of the foreign consulates will need to provide a copy of their diplomatic passport, the card issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and a letter stating they work at the consulate.

Transactions are mainly carried out on interest-free payment-plan from developers, and the Central Bank rates increase does not have a direct
impact.
